onsight TOKYO
This year, climbing evolves from being an activity to a podium sport at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. While climbing itself isn’t new, the sport of climbing has evolved to high performance athleticism. USA Climbing team member and Mountain Hardwear athlete Kyra Condie is one of two female climbers representing the United States at the upcoming Games. In preparation, she has been honing her craft under the guidance of Josh Larson, USA Climbing’s Head Coach.
This micro-site hosts the documentary-style photography of both The Climber and The Coach in a project called Onsight TOKYO. These photo essays capture moments of their journey as they live and train in Salt Lake City, Utah in the months leading up to the Summer Games. All images were created for Mountain Hardwear and copyright Matt Burbach, but are available for digital and print licensing upon agreement and outside embargo dates.
